INTRODUCTION

The main objective of this website is to provide mapping information relating to the Cook Islands. These data layers were compiled using the Geographical Information System (GIS) software MapINFO and then uploaded to here.

The Cook Islands Mapserver is based on Tikiwiki, (cache) a free OpenSource (cache) software. The Documentation is at http://doc.tikiwiki.org (cache). There are other GeoCMS in the Pacific (cache).

The Server is hosted at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Planning, (cache) a key stakeholder. With the participation of other Government agencies and private sector, it was possible to bring in a core group of people to ensure that the usage of the system is sustainable for the benefit of the Cook Islands and the World.
